Behind The Scenes at Inlec

What goes on behind the scenes at Inlec?
All communications are logged, whether you first contact us by telephone, email or via the website. Your enquiry is dealt with by the hire desk, who will use their knowledge of the products and the industry you are working in, to help you to select the most suitable equipment.

Expert advice, if you need it.
If there is a better way to do the job, save you time or money we’ll tell you. There might be options you would never have considered. If it’s appropriate, we’ll share our knowledge of the way they do things other industries.

We will never advise you to use something that’s inappropriate for your purpose or offer you inferior equipment. At the same time, we are generally remote from you and your operation, so the final decision on what to hire has to be yours. This advice is completely free of charge.

Consultancy services.
You can take advantage of a professional consultancy service where we can carry out surveys on your behalf or assist you in the selection of the most suitable equipment for your or your client’s requirements.
This service is chargeable so you will always receive a quote before any work is carried out.

The equipment you need when you need it.
You can either book the instrument for some time in the future, or request immediate delivery. Pre-booking is a free service and useful for you to know that the instrument will be available when you need it. For example, during a shutdown or if you have a limited time to carry out the testing.

Great systems guarantee a great service for you and your customer.
Assuming we are able to fulfill your requirement, our computer system relays your order to the hire department. You will also be told the cost of the hire.

Our operation, from enquiry to delivery, is controlled via a fully integrated computer system which ensures that if you are told something is available from stock… it will be! The system makes it impossible for us to double book equipment out of the hire department and ensures accurate invoicing for the hire period.

Your data (site address, invoice address etc) is held securely so we can quickly initiate rehires if you need anything in the future. Our IT system also links to our website and provides downloadable data sheets for each piece of equipment.

Meanwhile, in the dispatch department...
Your order is processed by a hire technician who will carry out a full function check on the equipment. The instrument will be supplied with the manufacturer’s instructions, any accessories or consumables required for the length of hire and a valid calibration certificate (where appropriate).

We attach a tag showing who checked and packed the instrument, so we can investigate if any problems arise. It’s usually packed in a flight case, so you receive it in good working order.

You want it quickly because you need to get the job done.
If we confirm your order before 4pm it will be dispatched the same day, for delivery the next working day (within the UK mainland). We use a combination of our own transport and national courier firms.

If you’re stuck...
During the hire period you can contact us for free advice on use of the equipment. We will always do our best to help. You will be put through to one of our technical people from the hire desk, or the calibration laboratory who should be able to help you. If we can’t solve your problem we can often get the manufacturer to contact you directly

If you need to keep hold of the equipment.
You can extend the length of hire by contacting us before the instrument is due to be returned. In 99% of the cases this is not a problem unless it has been pre-booked by another customer and all similar items have also been hired out. Even then if we can’t help, we try to find a replacement for you from another supplier.

When you have finished with the equipment.
Simply call the hire desk to arrange collection. You’ll be given a unique reference number. This will ensure that the charging for that item stops and the courier or one of our team will collect the equipment. Please remember that you are responsible for the instrument until it’s collected.

Back at the warehouse.
The instrument is quarantined, inspected and function tested by a technician. All instruments that require it are returned to the laboratory for recalibration and test. If there is any damage, we try and repair the item ourselves to minimize the cost to you, rather than going back to the manufacturer which is more expensive than our in-house charges.

And it all starts again.
Once the item has been passed for hire, it is returned to the warehouse ready for the next customer.

We keep up to date, so you don’t have to…
Inlec import equipment from Europe and North America to offer you the widest range of measurement solutions in the industrial test equipment industry.

As a major distributor and purchaser of test gear, we are often given advance notice of new equipment releases. This allows us to evaluate products fully before adding them to our hire stock and making them available to you. If there’s a product you’d like to be able to hire, contact us and we’ll certainly evaluate it as potential stock item. You’ll also see that we post the gear we’re testing on the website so you can see what’s likely to be added to our stock for the future.

We regularly review all the relevant trade journals, visit test equipment exhibitions and receive information on new product releases from manufacturers. All this helps to ensure we know what’s going on with this fast moving industry.
