Megger NIM 1000 Impedance Meter

The NIM 1000 measures loop impedance and will detect any malfunctions in the LV grid at an early stage. Load-sensitive and neutral faults are triggered by the impedance meter which detects weak contacts and exposes hidden flaws. 

A multiphase measurement can calculate the impedance of the neutral conductor which highlights defects which could cause severe safety issues. However, this is all dependent on the grounding condition of the tested grid.

This versatile device will measure current capacity in a real-life environment, determine voltage dip results from a specified load and will carry out tests on cables, power supply lines and bus bars. The tests help establish the correct dimensions of installations; ensure consistently good power quality and prevent downtimes.

• The data collected provides a reliable and comprehensive evaluation of the power grid, this is in terms of current load capacity and fluctuations of voltage under load. Voltage fluctuations are often caused by electronic loads and converters; they generate strong, harmonic currents that add to the base frequency, elevating the load considerably.
• The NIM 1000 is able to show how the grid performs under load by measuring the complex impedance up to the 10th harmonic. This device is very user-friendly thanks to the simple operation, handy size and bright colour display, it was specifically developed for the needs of LV utility technicians.
