The G59 mains protection relay device looks at the stability and quality of mains' electricity. It is programmed to strict parameters dictated by the DNO, typically including voltage, frequency, ROCOF (rate of change), phase angle etc. If the parameters are breached then the relay will cause a protective device, such as an MCCB or other circuit breaker to open, instantly disconnecting the generator from the grid.
